日本天文考古学会は、天文学で遺跡を研究する天文考古学の進歩と普及を目的とする学会です。

宇宙物理学者の桜井邦朋先生（元神奈川大学教授、）が1982年に書かれた「天文考古学入門」は、日本に最初に天文考古学を紹介した著書でしたが、日本において天文考古学が発展することはありませんでした。

一方、諸外国の遺跡研究においては、天体と遺跡の関係は無視できない事実であり、天文考古学が大きな役割を果たしています。

このような状況を鑑みて、2019年3月30日に、12名の発起人によって、日本天文考古学会が設立されました。

顧問に桜井邦朋先生、会長に秋田大学の上田晴彦教授、他10名の理事の体制で学会がスタートしました。

本学会は現在に至るまで、天文考古学に関する研究成果を国内外に発信する学会として活動を展開しています。

会員の研究成果を国内外への発信することを目的として、学会誌「J-AASJ」を刊行しています。また、最新の研究成果を発表・討議する場を提供することを目的として、研究発表会を開催しています。さらに、遺跡の見学会や勉強会も開催しています。

日本天文考古学は、若手研究者のご入会を切望しています。また、天文考古学の研究者は非常に少ないため、研究者の会費だけでは学会を維持できません。趣旨に賛同し応援していただける方のご入会を大いに歓迎いたします。

会員には、学会誌「J-AASJ」が配布されます。また、会員には、本会主催のセミナー・シンポジウム・講演発表会等への会員割引価格の参加等の特典があります。 

　人類が惑星や、月、星、太陽の運行と変化に気づいたのは随分遠い昔のことです。多くの民族の神話や伝説の中に天体の運行、星や星座にかかわるものが沢山あるという事実がそれを物語っています。太陽や星の周期的な運行は、人類の生存に関わる食料の採取時期を知らせ、祭祀の時期を知らせる重要な目安となっていました。世界各地に残されている古代遺跡はこれら古代人の努力の跡といえます。イギリスのストーンヘンジやマヤやアステカの天文古代遺跡はあまりにも有名ですが、その他の地域にも多くの天文古代遺跡が存在しています。

 　勿論、わが国にも天文古代遺跡が存在しています。巨石の隙間から差し込む光の位置で詳細な暦を作っていた岐阜の金山巨石群、巨石のスリットに二至二分の光が差し込む愛媛の白石の鼻巨石群、また、天空の星々を巨石で地上に再現した奈良山添村の神野山などの例があります。これらは、縄文時代に遡る古代の遺跡ですが、残念なことに考古学的には認知されていません。科学的根拠の薄さが原因となっています。遺跡周辺から縄文時代の遺物が発見されても遺跡そのものとの直接の関係は認められないのです。ここに天文学と考古学との融合の重要性が出てきます。古代の天文情報と巨石に刻まれた天文情報とが一致するとき、それは科学的証明となるのではないでしょうか。天文考古学とは、これら太古の天文の記憶を秘めた古代遺跡を天文学により科学的に解き明かす学問です。貴重な古代遺跡を天文学と考古学の両面から研究し、その姿を明らかにしていくことが我が国の古代史を復元することになります。

 　ここに、天文考古学会を設立し、天文情報を記憶している多くの巨石遺構を国内外に周知していくことを目標とします。また、若い研究者が現れ、日本において天文考古学という新しい学問体系が形成されて発展していくことを目指します。

It is a long time ago that human beings noticed the operation and changes of planets, moons, stars, and the sun.

Because many ethnic myths and legends have stories related to celestial operations, stars and constellations.

Periodic travel of the sun and the stars was an important measure to inform the time of collection of food related to the survival of mankind and the time of ritual occasion.

Ancient ruins left in various parts of the world are marks of the ancient people's efforts.

Stonehenge in England and pyramid in Maya are too famous, but there are also many other ancient remains related to astronomy in other areas

Of course, there are also ancient ruins about astronomy in Japan.

In the Kanayama megalith group of Gifu prefecture, a detailed calendar is made using the position of the light inserted from the giant stone gap.

In Shiraishi-no-hana megalith group of Ehime prefecture

, a mechanism for inserting the light of the spring equinox and winter solstice into the slit of the megalith is made.

In Kounoyama in Nara prefecture, the arrangement of the stars in the sky is reproduced on the ground with megaliths.

These are ancient ruins dating back to the Jomon Period, but unfortunately they are not archaeologically recognized.

The reason is the scarcity of science.

If a relic of the Jomon period is discovered from around the ruins it is not admitted that it is directly related to the ruins.

Therefore, the integration of astronomy and archeology becomes necessary.

If ancient astronomical information and astronomical information engraved on a megalith coincide, it is scientifically proved.

Astronomical archeology is a scientific study that unravels the ancient ruins secretly memorable in ancient astronomy scientifically by astronomy.

Researching precious ancient ruins from both astronomy and archeology and revealing its appearance will restore Japanese ancient history.

We declare the establishment of The Astronomical Archeology Society of Japan now.

The Astronomical Archeology Society of Japan aims to inform the world of megalithic remains that memorizes astronomical information.

A young researcher will also appear, aiming to form a new academic system called astronomical archeology in Japan.
